WELCOME TO THE BEECH GROVE AREA
To Get a Library Card:
You will need to bring a piece of I.D. with your current name and address on it. (for example: a driver’s license, a printed check, a utility bill.)
If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must accompany you and give their permission for you to have a card.
The Confusing Part — Beech Grove city services are available to everyone in Beech Grove. Some of that same area is served by the Beech Grove Schools and some by Perry Schools. The same is true of library service. If you live in an area that is served by Perry Schools then you will need to get a library card from any branch of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library. If you go to Beech Grove Schools, then you are in the Beech Grove Library service district. We all regret this situation, but the schools have not been able to reach an agreement and the Indianapolis Library Board decided to keep their library district the same as the Perry Schools which they serve.
The Good News— There is an agreement in place between the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library and the Beech Grove Public Library to offer free services to all county residents. You do need to register in your home library first. Once that is completed then you can get a free card for the other library.
For example:
If you live in the Beech Grove Library district you would first apply for a card in Beech Grove, and then apply for an Indianapolis card.
If you live elsewhere in Marion County, you will need to get a card from the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library first, then you can get a card with the Beech Grove Public Library.
